Great LCD display, nice bright backlight
I got this to replace the old CCFL display in my Alesis Fusion. It runs and looks great. The contrast levels are not as high as some LCDs because its a transflective display so it looks good even with bright ambient lighting where most LCDs are hard to see. Before installing the new display I spent some time with a variable power supply and some power resistors determining what current levels provided good illumination without getting the LED module too hot. I found that between 150 and 200mA the backlight was nicely bright while still running cool. At 300mA and above the LED module got too hot. Forget the datasheet rating. If you run this at 800mA I seriously doubt it will last long. 400mA got the LED bar too hot to touch! Overall, an amazing value and very well built. These are not low-quality displays as another reviewer implied.

Inexpensive replacement display for Alesisi Fusion & Akai MPC5000
Plug in replacement for Alesis Fusion & Akai MPC500 The LED back light can be connected to dimmer control by the power leads that went to the Dimmer PCB and the Dimmer PCB & Inverter PCB that were used to power the CCFL back light can be eliminated.

Just what I needed. | ||
I bought 2 and they work great. I used a dspic30f4013 and mikroelektronicas glcd library. I like the fact it has a built-in negative voltage generator and only needs a 5 volt supply.

Tried like hell and couldnt get it to work.
no wonder why it was so cheap. I think I just got a bad board.
