Easy to use, well documented
I found the DFRkeypad library in the Arduino list and installed it. It more or less worked, though the keypad code is a bit rough. The display worked out of the box, and I really like the programmable backlight level.

Good tip.
Thanks Robert for the tip about changing the initial pin numbers. Hello World!

Works great with MPJA UNO once sketch changes are made.
Most of the LCD test sketches use different pins that dont allow this 1602 LCD shield to function when plugged directly onto the UNO board. Change the initilization line to: LiquidCrystal lcd8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7; and the basic 1602 LCD test sketch should run correctly with this shield. Im a new Arduino user and having fun with MPJAs UNO and additional hardware options. I rate this LCD as 4 star only because it is not directly plug and play.
