Handheld Sun | ||
I made the brightest light out of this and the 30 Watt LED. I put the LED on a AMDFX Heatsink with fan. Powered by a ryobi 18v 4ah battery. The frame was 3d printed with a aluminum collimator meant for a metal halide bulb. Would use again.

Excellent driver, excellent price
I wrote the two prior reviews, the second is a duplicate of the first. I request they be withdrawn, as my test set-up was not correct, and the three stars hurts the average for this product. My mistake... its all about watt-hours, not amp-hours. Watt-hours takes the voltage step-up into account. Duh. Total power capacity of the LiPo battery is 248 Watt-hours as measured with the West Mountain CBA. This LED driver delivered 243 Watt-hours to the LED. Thats 98% efficient. The cost and delivery is excellent, the package design includes a means to mount the driver to a chassis. Durability has been perfect with 5% duty cycle over a year. This product is well thought out and executed. No dimming capability, but I do not need that. Really deserves 5 stars.

low cost, solid, but low efficiency 25-31%
Did a discharge test of a 4S LiPo with BMS through a Western Radio CBA IV, and got 99.1% power out, which is highly efficient, only 0.9% loss. I then discharged the LiPo/BMS through this 30W LED Driver. Test 1, with a 10Ah LiPo battery, yielded only 25% power through, and 75% wasted. Test 2 with a 16Ah battery, yielded 31% power through, and 69% wasted. This is not optimal for battery powered applications.

low cost, solid, but just 25% efficient
With a 12-24vdc input, you might be running these LED drivers off batteries, or possibly an automotive alternator system. You will be happy if it is an alternator, but batteries will discharge way too fast as these are only 25% efficient. Most of your power will become heat, not light. That is why the case looks like a heat sink. Definitely a good deal for $9. Perfect for testing new ideas. Look elsewhere when efficiency matters.
