We stock a variety of Printed Circuit Boards in raw copper clad, Coated copper clad with a photo graphic emulsion and perforated Protoboards. Our circuit board material is standard .062in. thick with 1oz.Copper/sq.ft./side. A Printed Circuit Board is an insulated “Board” made from a phenolic plastic impregnated type of paper, fiberglass mats in an epoxy, an insulated copper or other metal core or Teflon/plastic sheet. Sometimes called “Copper Clad” or PC board, a Printed Circuit Board is a sandwich of conductive layers & insulating layers. These layers can 1 layer of copper over the insulator called, Single sided Printed Circuit Board, two layers of conductor (1 each side); generally called Double Sided or you can have boards with up to 40 or more layers. The Single and Double sided are the most common used to build prototypes and low production runs by hobbyists and experimenters. These Printed Circuit Boards can have the copper selectively removed by a special router table, Silk Screened on the copper and then etched in acid or photographically reproduced on a photo sensitized Coated Board and etched. This removal leaves copper traces that interconnect between components. Generally Printed Circuit Boards are available in 2 basic types: Raw Circuit Board material with copper 1 or 2 sides for routing/etching or as Protoboard or Perfboard (Perforated) board with holes. With the Protoboard Printed Circuit boards, you place components through holes in the board and interconnect the leads by bending together and soldering or attaching discrete wires. Most Perfboard Printed Circuit Boards will have round “donut” or square copper pads that you solder to, providing support for parts. Double sided & multilayer production Printed Circuit Boards will have any interconnecting holes between layers or through board, plated through. This means that the outside diameter of the hole is plated with copper to provide conductive paths layer to layer, component to component. Fabricating multilayer PC Board and creating Plated through holes is beyond our scope here.
